Receiving the message from the front desk that Mr. Lu had already taken the elevator, Wang Shen waited outside the elevator door with three assistants. The elevator doors slowly opened.
Shuaichang stepped out without glancing at the four assistants.
Wang Shen quickly followed him, reporting, “Mr. Lu, you need to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Chaoyang Royal Court at eleven o’clock this morning, the dinner for the film ‘Changchun Palace’ at three this afternoon to discuss filming matters, where the director, screenwriter, producer, and other investors will be present, and at eight o’clock tonight, there is a banquet hosted by Mr. Li from Heping Property at Li Gong, and you need to bring a companion.”
“Okay, you all go ahead and get busy,” Shuaichang nodded, sitting down confidently in the chair behind his desk, slowly exhaling a breath.
The documents on his desk required his approval. Previously, Wang Shen had sent them to his email, and he reviewed them at home. Knowing he was back at work today, Wang Shen left them in a place on the desk that he could easily see.
Shuaichang disliked accumulating work, quickly approving the documents and instructing Wang Shen to distribute them to the various departments before heading to the Chaoyang Royal Court for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Standing under the sun, after completing the ribbon-cutting, Shuaichang broke into a sweat in November. The first thing he did upon returning to the office was take a shower.
While Shuaichang was showering in the stall, Wang Shen went to the eleventh-floor restaurant to buy several dishes to bring back for him.
The most striking feature in the stall was a two-meter-wide bed, next to which was a simple white dining table. Wang Shen arranged the meals, and when he looked up, Shuaichang emerged wearing a white bathrobe.
His damp hair fell freely, and his deep-set eyes revealed a sense of relaxation and pleasure. His lips curled slightly, and the bathrobe was loosely tied around his waist, leaving his chest muscles exposed.
Wang Shen froze in place, but as soon as Shuaichang saw him, he quickly turned his back and tied the robe properly. “You can go out now; from now on, if I don’t call you, you’re not allowed to come in.”
“…Oh, okay.” Wang Shen felt inexplicably flustered, “Mr. Lu, the meal is here; just let me know when you’re done, and I’ll come in to clean up.” It must be because he had never been reprimanded by Lu Mingshen before.
Rushing back to the office, Wang Shen felt a layer of cold sweat form on his body, his muscles tense and sore. Sitting back in his seat, his chest felt tight, an unfamiliar sensation that he had never encountered in his more than twenty years of life.
The spirit group remarked, “Tsk tsk tsk, only I can see through everything.”
Shuaichang sat down to eat, responding, “I almost got seen naked by a stranger; why didn’t you mention this beforehand?”
The spirit group replied, “Handsome, do you know you have the potential to be a wrench?”
Shuaichang asked, “What wrench? I’ve never heard of it.”
The spirit group continued, “You’re a bending expert! Your charm is simply unmatched!”
Shuaichang countered, “Come on now, my little Sheng has only three stars so far; how did you come to that conclusion?”
The spirit group responded, “The Buddha says it cannot be spoken of.”
Shuaichang sighed, “Here we go with the cryptic nonsense again.”
After finishing his meal and reading for a bit, Shuaichang planned to work out for an hour in the gym on the tenth floor before taking a nap. He hadn’t exercised in two weeks, and his muscles had relaxed considerably, which was vital for attracting Qi Sheng.
After working out, Shuaichang’s clothes were soaked with sweat. Upon returning to the office, he found Wang Shen still there. “Why haven’t you gone for lunch?”
Wang Shen felt Shuaichang’s heat radiating, causing him to stiffen, his ears growing uncontrollably red. “Mr. Lu, I’ve already eaten.”
“You should rest when it’s time to; taking care of your body is important.” Shuaichang said mildly before pushing the door back into the stall.
Wang Shen buried his face in his arms on the desk, feeling hopeless. He had just thought Mr. Lu was brimming with hormones, and his legs had almost given way.
“It can’t be; I’m heterosexual. I dated three girlfriends in college; I have no interest in men at all.”
But he didn’t have much interest in women either. All three of his college girlfriends broke up without even holding hands…
Unbeknownst to him, as he inadvertently had his assistant feeling conflicted, Shuaichang finished his shower and lay down on the bed, quickly falling asleep. Just before sleeping, he felt vaguely that he had forgotten something.
In his dreams, Qi Sheng lamented and questioned him about why he didn’t accompany her for lunch. Shuaichang wanted to explain but found he couldn’t utter a word and suddenly awoke.
His heavy and hurried breaths echoed in the bedroom as he grabbed his phone to call Qi Sheng.
It rang twice before it connected. “Hello, Xiao Sheng, have you eaten yet?”
“I’ve eaten,” Qi Sheng replied. “Yu Xinhai bought food for everyone, and ordered three takeout meals.”
“What’s up?” He wondered if Lu Mingshen was waiting for him to keep him company for lunch.
Qi Sheng paused, feeling a strange sensation in her heart, all tingly and itchy but unaroused, no matter how much she tried to scratch it.
“Nothing much; I was just afraid you would forget to eat because of your work. Your stomach is not good; you must take care of your health,” Shuaichang said, feeling a bit disappointed after hanging up. It seemed Qi Sheng had never thought of sharing lunch with him.
The spirit group chimed in, “Ding! Qi Sheng’s attraction index is four stars!”
The spirit group’s good news timely saved Shuaichang from his bad mood. If a phone call could deepen their feelings, could this be considered an accidental stroke of luck? He decided to call Qi Sheng every day during lunch from now on.
Checking the time, Shuaichang got up to wash up, changed into a formal suit, and prepared for the liquor meeting at three o’clock in the afternoon.
Since drinking was a must during the liquor meeting, and knowing he wouldn’t be able to drive afterward, Shuaichang decided to take Wang Shen along.
“Don’t touch a single drop of alcohol; just leave that to me,” Shuaichang instructed Wang Shen.
Wang Shen turned his head uncomfortably, “Okay, alright.” He felt increasingly strange; why did he think Mr. Lu looked so handsome when saying such things?
The liquor meeting was scheduled at a private restaurant owned by a celebrity, known for its exclusivity. They walked down a winding gravel path and entered a bamboo-shaded room.
Shuaichang entered precisely at three o’clock. About seven or eight people were seated inside; upon seeing him, they all stood up to greet him. Someone offered him the main seat, and Shuaichang chose not to be modest and sat down directly.
Pouring himself a cup of tea, he asked, “Is everyone here?”
The screenwriter replied, “We’re just missing Mr. Yan. He tripped on his way out and will be delayed for half an hour. Let’s eat first without waiting for him.”
Shuaichang nodded, pointing to Wang Shen seated below him, “This is my driver for today; he can’t drink. If there’s any alcohol, let me know.”
